Job Description
Courtesy clerks are entry-level store positions in grocery stores. Their duties depend on the size and type of store.The main responsibility in the courtesy clerk job description is putting groceries into bags and then putting the bags into a cart. At some stores, courtesy clerks take the groceries to the customers vehicle as well.Courtesy clerks also collect shopping carts from the parking lot and pick up litter around the lot. They sweep floors, and may also clean bathrooms. Courtesy clerks answer questions from customers about location and pricing of items, return misplaced items to their proper location, and return items to shelves from the check-out when customers change their minds about a purchase. Because they deal regularly with customers, courtesy clerks must be friendly, polite and have a well-groomed appearance.
