A sales floor associate must demonstrate excellent customer service while assisting customers with finding and purchasing store merchandise. Typically, sales floor associates work in the retail industry, and they interact directly with customers throughout the day. Successful sales floor associates have good communication skills and enjoy working with people.

A sales floor associate is usually the first point of contact when a customer enters a store. The associate must have a friendly and inviting demeanor. Also, a sales floor associate must be able to effectively communicate with all types of customers. For that reason, the sales associate must be courteous, tactful and patient. Likewise, the sales associate must be knowledgeable of the store merchandise.
